Shop With A Firefighter

Every year, the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department partners with Kohl's to take around 50 elementary school kids to participate in the Shop With A Firefighter event. Each kid is partnered up with a firefighter and given a $150 gift card to go on a needed shopping spree. They can select items such as shoes, clothes, socks, and a backpack to start the school year out with their best foot forward. Each year, the fire department gets kids who have never had a new pair of shoes or school supplies to bring with them on their first day. This incredible event has been going on for 20 years, and has made a difference in the lives of hundreds of deserving children.
